August continues to bring sunshine and warm temperatures across the country. Per the calendar there is still about 5 weeks of summer left. Beat the heat by booking an end-of-summer getaway to Winter Park.
Winter Park has consistently been a top ranked family resort across Colorado. While there are tons of family-friendly activities, it still rings true to one of my favorite date weekend getaways with my hubby. Located in the heart of the Colorado Rockies, the views of Rocky Mountain National Park, Continental Divide and Arapaho mountains are truly breathtaking. Every view. Every angle. Big Mountains and so serene.
While visiting Winter Park this summer, be sure to experience the Saturday music scene at the resort. It is a great way to fill the lunchtime entertainment activity. Experience this lively scene at the Village gazebo. Kick back and relax on the lawn while taking in the views and listening to local Colorado bands. Following the performance, head over to Vertical Bistro for a bite to eat and more live music from 2 to 5 PM. Might as well keep the music party going and end the day by taking a scenic gondola ride to Sunspot for a performance from 5 to 7 PM.
Have the family with you? Be sure to check out the Family Movie Nights at the base of the mountain every Friday through the end of August from 8 to 10 p.m.
The height of summer tourism season has winded down and yet there are still an abundance of summer recreational opportunities. Hiking, biking, fishing, and enjoying the Colorado mountains await. August and September are a perfect time to beat that end of summer heat by visiting Winter Park.
